Should I be Introvert or Extrovert? A Pairwise Robot Comparison Assessing the Perception of Personality-Based Social Robot Behaviors

چکیده
With this study we wanted to extend the research on personality traits and similarity- complementarity-attraction effects in HRI, explore which demographic variables might affect them. For that purpose, conducted a with 46 participants under pairwise robot comparison experimental design, combining verbal non-verbal behaviors, complementing results qualitative data. We found out similarity-attraction effect was supported although could not find any variable predict it.

This paper presents two complementary patterns. The first is a learning pattern and is intended for use by novices in professional fields. The second is a pedagogical pattern intended for educators teaching such novices. The Introvert Extrovert pattern speaks to those novices who believe themselves to be shy and introverted but whose circumstances in the professional world demands them to be bo...

Learning Social Behaviors During Human-Robot Play
The Problem: This work explores socially situated learning by exploiting the types of interaction that arise between a nurturing caretaker and an immature learner. Here, the learner is an anthropomorphic robotic platform. Its primary sensory inputs include vision, audition, and joint rotation of its degrees of freedom. Its outputs include vocalizations, head and eye orientation, and facial expr...
متن کاملCan Robots Manifest Personality?: An Empirical Test of Personality Recognition, Social Responses, and Social Presence in Human–Robot Interaction
Personality is an essential feature for creating socially interactive robots. Studies on this dimension will facilitate enhanced human–robot interaction (HRI). Using AIBO, a social robotic pet developed by Sony, we examined the issue of personality in HRI. In this gender-balanced 2 (AIBO personality: introvert vs. extrovert) by 2 (participant personality: introvert vs. extrovert) between-subjec...
متن کاملRobot-Human Interaction -- How Robot Approach Behaviors Affect Human Perception of a Robot’s Character and Role
When building computational artifacts that are capable of social relationships with human, it is desirable for these artifacts to possess a human form like those of humanoids, bipedal robots and anthropomorphic agents. If these artifacts appear human-like, they can display nonverbal social interaction cues. In particular, physically embodied artifacts such as bipedal robots can use the nonverba...
